Sponsored: Mr. Micawber’s Hot Gin Punch Recipe

Many of the original punches were most likely hot punches. This hot gin punch, favored by Mr. Micawber of Charles Dickens’ novel, David Copperfield, is the perfect drink for celebrating the holiday season. Serve it to your guests from a tea pot into tea cups for an extra level of charm and sophistication!

3 cups Hendrick’s Gin

3 cups Madeira wine

fresh juice of three lemons

4 oz honey syrup

5 or 6 large lemon twists

8 to 10 chunks of fresh pineapple

2 tsp. whole cloves

1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg

Add all ingredients to a large sauce pan.

Bring to a boil then immediately turn to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove from heat and ladle immediately into pre-warmed mugs or tea cups for your guests.
