Barney Shrubble Cocktail

By CVoisey

A shrub is an old concoction that was originally intended to preserve fruit, or at least their flavor, using sugar, water and vinegar. Increasingly, it became common to add a dash of your shrub, be it strawberry, blueberry, rhubarb or what have you, to some ice and dilute with water, either flat or carbonated. Recently, it's popularity as a cocktail ingredient has become popular once again. In this episode, Charlotte adds a delicious raspberry shrub with Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur to create the Barney Shrubble cocktail. Yabba Dabba Doo!

Recipe

*Remember, great cocktails start with measuring responsibly.*

1 1/2 parts Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur

1 1/2 parts raspberry shrub

1 1/2 parts fresh lemon juice

Instructions

This is a delightful looking drink, but one would like to know the proportions of ingredients for the shrub itself and how it is made.  The selection of vinegar alone could make a big difference.

I am with Stephen in above comment. Could you please explain the Shrub/Vinegar proportions in this cocktail ? I would hate to serve someone drink that I made using Vinegar and not knowing the amount. WOW !

I love Charlotte’s episodes, and this cocktail looks great. And Charlotte looks terrific, as always - pretty as all get out. So my comment is not negative by any means. But from certain angles, does this woman not bear an uncanny resemblance to Bill Clinton [a young Bill Clinton, of course]?
